Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop Details:

[/vc_message][vc_column_text]

The Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop is a one day course held in Coventry for aspiring sports traders to learn from one of Betfair’s most experienced traders. The course is focused on one proven strategy that any trader can use time and time again in the Horse Racing markets.

For those of you who haven’t heard of, or met, Mug’s Game (whose real name is Steve Howe) you’re in for a treat. For those who know his videos, blogs or have been on his course you’ll know what I’m on about…

Background Information to the Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop

With Horse Racing being one of the most popular sports to trade on Betfair for the fact it’s on daily, has great liquidity and presents hundreds of opportunities in a week it’s no surprise it is the starting point for many just starting out on their sports trading journey. There are courses run by a number of professionals who have made it their professional living – a dream that many of us aspire to.

Who Is Steve Howe?

Steve Howe, or Mug’s Game as his moniker goes, is a professional trader of 10+ years who is renowned within the trading community for his straight-talking approach. Not many tell it how it is like Steve does. I found Steve’s helpful postings on the Bet Angel forums when doing some research one night and ended up at his personal website www.itsamugsblog.co.uk.

As a professional Betfair trader, Steve has even been featured alongside Peter Webb and Caan Berry in the #BetfairTraders campaign the betting exchange ran in 2014.

Mugs’ website contains a lot of useful blogs filled with information about trading the Betfair markets. His YouTube channel has hundreds of videos in which he voices over and explains his (sometimes colourful!) thought processes behind races he has traded. Steve talks in very straightforward and simple language that any novice horse racing trader can understand – this is quite rare to find and very beneficial when you’re learning the ropes.

Even though I had already been on the Bet Angel Horse Racing Workshop a few months previous (read that review here) and had already booked my Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass course (and read that review, here) I couldn’t help myself but book onto Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop too.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”View Steve’s Current Workshops” style=”3d” color=”warning” align=”center” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-graduation-cap” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.itsamugsblog.co.uk%2F2016-racing-workshops%2F||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”][vc_column_text]

Booking the Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop

I booked onto his course for October 2016 – held in The Village Hotel, Coventry – via www.itsamugsblog.co.uk/racing-workshops (you can check the current availability of his courses here too).

This is where Mug’s begins to show his true class. There is nothing that is too much for Steve. If you have any queries he will seemingly go to any length to help you out and give you the right information. The detail in the introductory email is first class. As I was flying over from Belfast Steve’s directions, travel and accommodation information provided gave me with a clear idea of what time I should book my flights for, which hotel I should stay in and how to get to it.

A picture of the outside the Village Hotel, Coventry
Outside the Village Hotel, Coventry

Steve also recommended that we stay over at the hotel from the night before as he would be hanging around to get to know those attending the course for (what was meant to be) a light drinking session. More on that in the next section.

Nothing to do then except pass the time until the course by watching more of Steve’s videos for purely learning purposes. OK, also for some light, post-watershed entertainment too.

Pre-Workshop

Steve even took the time to email everybody on the Friday before the course to give details of the pre-meet up session and provide info on the course format. He also mentioned that he would be hanging about in the bar afterwards for people to pick his brains about what they had just learned.

Personally, I arrived at the hotel on the Saturday (the course was on the Monday) as I’d planned to take advantage of the gym and swimming facilities. In the end, I just wound up watching the weekend football on their f**king huge TV screen. It is a proper sports bar, top notch.

On the Sunday I went down to the bar to join Steve and the other attendees. We all had a few drinks (some had more than a few and paid for it the next day) and got our chance to talk to Steve to ask him questions about life as a professional sports trader. He also informed us about the upgrade option where we would be invited to join his mentorship program upon completion of the course (which is well worth it by the way, but more on this at the end of the review). Most of us retired to bed by 1am in our attempts to be somewhat sensible and keep ourselves fresh enough for the day of learning ahead of us.

The Day of the Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop

The course started shortly after 9am and we got stuck into some basics and essential knowledge about money management, discipline and psychology (an essential part of any trader’s armour), keeping your bank safe and then a quick run through of the horse racing strategy we would be learning.

Steve then talks about his strategy in greater detail and told us why it had been so successful and proceeded to go through a few examples of him deploying this strategy. I have to admit, I did think “Is that it? Just one strategy? There has to be more to trading than this, everything I’ve learnt about it so far has told me so.” How wrong I was. You see, as a novice trader (and I’m sure there are many others out there like me) I tend to overcomplicate things at times. When I was just starting out if someone told me information about a strategy I would always think there was more to it. In fact, this is one of the biggest things that held me back in the beginning.[/vc_column_text][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=”gp-sports-trading-for-beginners-widget”][vc_message]One strategy is all that aspiring traders need to get a successful foothold in trading the pre-race markets.[/vc_message][vc_column_text]Back to the course review, though. After a break for lunch Steve went through this one strategy time and time again and took any and every question the attendees had about it. There was no such thing as a stupid question in this room, Steve wanted to make sure every one of us understood fully what we were learning and how to implement it in the horse racing markets ourselves. By the end of it we knew exactly what we had to do and when we could implement it. Of course, it would take practice for us doing it by ourselves, but with Steve’s confidence in us we all felt like we could go forward and have a real crack at it.

At the end of the course Steve handed everyone an 8gb USB stick filled with annotated video examples of the videos he had just gone through and other examples which we could watch ourselves. These are fantastic – the amount of depth Steve goes into on every trade is fantastic for newbies. They are all broken down bit by bit and paused at points so Steve can point out the indicators he was using at that very second of the trade. It really will drive the strategy home for you and give you confidence that you can go out there and do it yourself.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

After Course – The Mug’s Game Mentorship Group

Before I start, i’m not sure whether Steve still offers this. It’s worth checking with him yourself.

For anyone who has attended his course Steve offers the opportunity to join his mentorship group. In this you get access to all of Steve’s Skype groups and the groups of a few of his trusted fellow traders who specialise in certain markets. These include all the main Betfair sports markets and politics.

  • Football
  • Horse Racing (Pre-Race and Back to Lay/Lay to Back)
  • Tennis
  • NFL
  • Cricket
  • Politics
  • Matched Betting
  • And a few other rooms for banter and member trades

This is an incredible resource for any trader. As is often said, trading can be a lonely game at times, and having a bunch of other traders discussing in real time the same markets as you are trading can be invaluable. All the guys are great and if anyone asks a question someone will undoubtedly step forward to answer it. Steve is very active too, mainly in the Horse Racing rooms and will often post in new video content that he has recently recorded. This is the extra level of effort that the man goes to, he keeps his content fresh and provides numerous examples – often answering recent questions from new traders who have joined the group.[/vc_column_text][vc_message]Joining the mentorship group for at least 6 months will undoubtedly boost your progress. It is one of the best trading resources available.[/vc_message][vc_column_text]The main value for me when joining the mentorship program was in the extra video content. There was roughly an extra 10gbs of video content covering Horse Racing and Football that is all available via Dropbox download. There are three types of Horse Racing videos:

  • More examples of the strategy we were taught on the course
  • Videos of how Steve does his morning research to prepare for the day
  • Morning Racing – where Steve puts on some trades early due to the trend that is developing on them

The Football videos were a lightbulb moment for me as they helped to give me my first strategies to trade the pre-match markets. I finally started to make some consistent profit…until a couple of months later I lost my discipline again as I got involved in in-play Football trading – it seems to happen to us all at the novice stage! The important thing is that Steve’s videos open your mind up to all manner of possibilities of how to trade the markets that anyone just starting out probably wouldn’t begin to realise.[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=”What Edge Will It Give Me?” txt_align=”center” color=”white” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Check Current Availability” btn_style=”3d” btn_color=”warning” btn_align=”center” btn_i_align=”right” btn_i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-graduation-cap” btn_add_icon=”true” css=”.vc_custom_1500763147129{border-top-width: 5px !important;border-right-width: 5px !important;border-bottom-width: 5px !important;border-left-width: 5px !important;background-color: #81d742 !important;border-left-color: #cecece !important;border-left-style: outset !important;border-right-color: #cecece !important;border-right-style: outset !important;border-top-color: #cecece !important;border-top-style: outset !important;border-bottom-color: #cecece !important;border-bottom-style: outset !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.itsamugsblog.co.uk%2F2016-racing-workshops%2F|title:www.itsamugsblog.co.uk%2Fracing-workshops%2F|target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”]

Attending Steve Howe’s Pre-Race Horse Racing Workshop will provide newcomers with the head start they need when first tackling the horse racing markets on Betfair. The strategy explained on the course, combined with the takeaway video content, will undoubtedly provide a sound base to go into your trading sessions with confidence of being able to end the day with a profit.

Final Thoughts on the Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop

If you’ve been on the Mug’s Game Horse Racing Workshop and joined his mentorship program I’m sure you’ll agree with me in saying that it is fantastic value for money. For anyone thinking about going on it – the course will provide you with the platform for your success in trading and the Mug’s Game mentorship group will help with any pitfalls or queries you’re likely to have along the way. This course is fantastic starting place for those new to Sports Trading – you will not regret booking your place and investing in the mentorship group afterwards.

  • Bring a notepad and make notes – there is a lot of information to take in.
  • Familiarise yourself with a trading software, it doesn’t have to be Gruss, but as long as you understand how software works and the benefits it offers. If you’re entirely new then have a look at our blog post on the topic, here.
  • Take advantage of joining in with everyone the night before – you’ll meet some top people and be able to share experiences. Just don’t get too drunk so you can’t concentrate during the course the next day.
  • Watch the numerous videos provided in the extra content until you’re confident enough to trade the markets yourself.
  • I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone who is completely new to sports trading. If you haven’t already then read these three books that are perfect for beginners before booking any courses.

At The Races vs Racing UK: Do You Need Both as a Racing Trader?

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1498050547697{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_column_text]

If you plan on trading horse racing then it’s as simple as this: you need live TV pictures. If you don’t have pictures you will be at a serious disadvantage to everyone else in the Betfair markets. Having live pictures is an edge within itself.

At The Races vs Racing UK

At The Races and Racing UK are the two main horse racing broadcasters – so is it ok to just have access to one or do you need both?

The short answer is that you don’t really need to subscribe to either, but they do have their benefits. You can just use Betfair’s own live videos feed to stream but there are a few disadvantages to this.

Disadvantages of Using Betfair for Your Live Pictures

  • You must bet or put a trade on each race before you can access the pictures to that particular race – this is £5 minimum. I found this a bit of a nuisance as I’d often be concerned with getting £5 matched on both sides at no loss. Even if it was an 11p red it still had a psychological effect on me that I was already in the red before I’d even begun thinking about trading the race
  • Leading on from the point above: I felt I couldn’t properly assess how to trade the race before I got the pictures from Betfair on which meant I had no rhythm to my trading
  • For courses that Racing UK have the broadcast rights to you will see the race build-up from that TV channel. But for the races that At The Races have the rights to then you won’t have build up (however there is much less of a transmission delay than watching it on the actual ATR TV channel where there is anything between 10-30 seconds delay in coverage). Why is this important? Because the signal for potential moves in the market can be heard in the build up by the pundits – such as a pundit alerting you to the fact that a horse is keen to post/is playing up/is sweating
  • You rely on Betfair having no trouble with their feed. It’s happened a couple of times where they’ve had issues – which is rather unsurprising

One reason why you need access to both channels is because they have exclusive broadcast rights to certain racecourses. You can see the full lists by clicking on the accordions below.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

My Recommendation

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]If you’re just starting out I would recommend just using the Betfair live feed. This is because of 2 reasons:

  • If you’re subscribing to Racing UK online you must take out a minimum 12-month contract at £24.99 per month.
  • At The Races is so delayed it’s practically useless

However, if you’re serious about tackling pre-race horse racing then Racing UK is the nailed on one to subscribe to, but I can take or leave At The Adverts…. I mean At The Races.

However, it is best to Betfair’s live feed ready to load up in all circumstances – this is particularly easy to do through Geeks Toy which has a module where you can pull up the Betfair video.[/vc_column_text][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Related Content” spacer=”line_with_icon” spacer_position=”bottom” line_height=”1″ icon=”Defaults-file-text-o” icon_size=”32″][/ultimate_heading][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][interactive_banner banner_title=”Geeks Toy Software Review” banner_image=”id^1502|url^http://www.sportstradingtools.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Geeks-Toy-Ladder-Europa-League-Trade-Fully-Hedged.jpg|caption^null|alt^Geeks Toy Ladder – Europa League Trade, Fully Hedged|title^Geeks Toy Ladder – Europa League Trade, Fully Hedged|description^Geeks Toy Ladder – Europa League Trade, Fully Hedged” banner_height=”ult-banner-block-custom-height” banner_height_val=”200″ link_opts=”more” banner_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Fgeeks-toy%2F|||” banner_link_text=”Read the Review” banner_overlay_bg_color=”#4aa8c3″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][interactive_banner banner_title=”Bet Trader Software Review” banner_image=”id^1837|url^http://www.sportstradingtools.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/BetTrader-Pre-Race-Horse-Racing-Ladder-Screenshot.jpg|caption^BetTrader Pre-Race Horse Racing, Ladder Screenshot|alt^BetTrader Pre-Race Horse Racing, Ladder Screenshot|title^BetTrader Pre-Race Horse Racing, Ladder Screenshot|description^BetTrader Pre-Race Horse Racing, Ladder Screenshot” banner_height=”ult-banner-block-custom-height” banner_height_val=”200″ link_opts=”more” banner_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Fbettrader%2F|||” banner_link_text=”Read the Review” banner_overlay_bg_color=”#4aa8c3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=”gp-horse-racing-sidebar”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Caan Berry’s 4 Best Trading Videos on YouTube for Newbies

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1498050547697{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Caan Berry, a professional Betfair trader since 2011, has created a wealth of information online through his website and YouTube channel. As someone who struggled with the mentality of trading in the early days, he has always been keen to help those just starting out to overcome the exact same hurdles.

Here are 4 of Caan Berry’s best videos on YouTube for those just starting their trading journey…

1. Risk Management: Trading Betfair Horse Racing

In this video Caan provides an example of a losing trade on a 2-horse race. As part of his risk management process, before he even puts on his opening trade, he already knows roughly where he would consider it has gone wrong and where his loss exit point must be. It’s an important point that you’ll find professional sports traders hammering home time and time again.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmTh8dgRTgI” el_width=”90″ align=”center”][vc_message message_box_color=”alert-info” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-pencil”]Key Lesson: Risk management is all about having a pre-determined exit plan. If you don’t then it’ll be easy for your mind to keep putting off your exit point until you end up just letting your losses get out of control.[/vc_message][vc_column_text]

2. Importance of Being ‘Self Aware’ When Trading Betfair

Here Caan talks about self-awareness when trading and it’s a vitally important point. At the start of the day before you even begin trading you should take a moment to be aware of how you’re feeling at that point. If you’re feeling angry, a bit down, or just not right then it probably isn’t a good idea to trade. The same goes for when you’re in your trading session. If you find things aren’t going your way and you’re losing the control over your trading then it’s best to just quit for the day before one of those big losses happens.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMhNFMAFIno ” el_width=”90″ align=”center”][vc_message message_box_color=”alert-info” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-pencil”]Key Lesson: What is your mind telling you about how you’re feeling when you’re trading? If it’s negative then just get out of the space you’re trading in, turn off the software and take a break. Get out during the heat of the moment before the shit hits the fan.[/vc_message][vc_text_separator title=”Caan Berry’s Advanced Video Pack” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-video-camera” i_color=”orange” color=”orange” border_width=”3″ add_icon=”true”][vc_single_image image=”1305″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://www.sportstradingtools.co.uk/caan-berry-avp”][vc_message message_box_color=”orange” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-video-camera”]Caan Berry’s Advanced Video Pack includes 22 Modules with 96 Videos that will set you in good stead for tackling the Betfair pre-race Horse Racing markets. It covers everything from Mindset, Psychology, Swing Trading, Scalping, Greyhounds, How to Trade Irish Races, Spotting Genuine Money and Managing Risk.

3. Record, Analyse, Critique & Implement

Even the professionals record their trading sessions from time to time. This was a key point I took on board when I was learning at the start – how could I improve my trading if I didn’t know what I was doing wrong in the markets? It’s alright to say after a trading session that you know where you went wrong – but I found when I watched back my recordings that there were one or two other more important things that I was missing “Oh so that’s why that drifted – because that horse which I hadn’t got my eye on had started being backed in!”

What I’m talking about here is a thing called inattentional blindness. Inattentional blindness is where you’re so concentrated on one thing that you miss something completely obvious that is happening elsewhere.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USuE7nrtIAs” el_width=”90″ align=”center”][vc_message message_box_color=”alert-info” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-pencil”]Key Lesson: Record some of your trades and analyse them. See what mistakes you’re making over and over again and then work on rectifying them one by one.[/vc_message][vc_column_text]

4. The Security of Starting Steady

It’s pretty obvious from the title what this is all about. When you’re starting the day of trading it’s key that you get off to a good start for the sake of your mentality going forward. It’s like anything you attempt to do in life – if you get off to a good start you’ll feel like you can succeed throughout the day. Get off to a bad start in trading though and it can be a downward spiral. Suddenly you feel the pressure to have a green screen the next race and we all know that putting pressure on yourself is not psychologically beneficial when it comes to trading.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lvuk-wgZ8I” el_width=”90″ align=”center”][vc_message message_box_color=”alert-info” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-pencil”]Key Lesson: Play it safe during the first race. Play the defensive game first. You want a profit but don’t take any unnecessary risks – set yourself up for a good start to the day and it’ll help you reap your rewards throughout the session.[/vc_message][vc_text_separator title=”Caan Berry’s Pre-Race Trading Guide” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-book” i_color=”orange” color=”orange” border_width=”3″ add_icon=”true”][vc_single_image image=”1295″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://www.sportstradingtools.co.uk/caan-berry-tg”][vc_message message_box_color=”orange” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-book”]Caan Berry’s Pre-Race Trading Guide provides all the essential information newcomers need to know. The Psychological Pitfall of Reading Adam Heathcote’s Blog

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1498050547697{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Adam Heathcote came to prominence in 2008 when he started a blog challenge to make £150,000 profit in just one year from trading the Betfair pre-race Horse Racing markets. Not only did he achieve it but he smashed it so much he had to raise his goal… twice! Firstly to £250,000 and then finally £350,000.

As you can imagine, Adam caused quite a stir within the sports trading community as everyone wanted to know how a 24-year old could become such an expert and make profits that some professionals can only dream of.

Here is Adam’s screenshotted profit and loss overview. It is quite staggering how quickly he was able to scale up.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1636″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]

Adam’s Blog

You can find Adam Heathcote’s blog here: http://adamheathcote.blogspot.co.uk/. The link provided even takes you to the first page so you can read through it from the beginning – it really is a fascinating read. Whilst Adam doesn’t give too much of his knowledge away he does reveal some titbits of information that are useful for beginners to learn.

Adam had already made a substantial amount from trading Betfair before he started the blog and you must keep it in perspective that a lot of hard work in learning trading is not talked about in his posts. Plus, I’d hazard a guess that his degree in Computer Science may have laid a lot of the groundwork for his analytical thinking which undoubtedly would have helped him grasp trading more easily than your average person. His first foray into trading was in 2007 where he attended a Peter Webb course.

Many people questioned whether Adam Heathcote was real, or whether he was a marketing ploy by Bet Angel – Peter Webb’s Betfair trading software company. I very much believe Adam and his results are real and believe the alternative claims were just jealousy on many people’s part. If you want proof that Adam Heathcote exists he appears in a video for one of his friend’s series called ‘Blag A Million’.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwevwGUTIi4″ el_width=”90″ align=”center”][vc_column_text]In the video, Adam makes £1,225 in the space of an afternoon. It all sounds so great – doesn’t it? Cue the dreams of you making that much money when you get good enough at trading.

I hate to rain on anyone’s parade, but there are many pitfalls to this way of thinking – and reading the Adam Heathcote blog can do more harm than good for beginners to this game.

The Psychological Pitfall for Newbie Traders Who Read Adam Heathcote’s Blog

A lot of traders read Adam’s blog at the start of their journey and get so excited by it that they set themselves a challenge.

I did. And I’ll freely admit that I failed.

What I didn’t know at the time was the psychological edge a Betfair trader of this level needed. I fooled myself into thinking that I could learn sports trading within 9-12 months and be proficient to the point where I was making astronomical profits. Why am I telling you this? Quite simply I don’t want you to make the same mistake yourself.

For most people, giving yourself a financial target is a foolish idea for a couple of reasons:

  • It puts pressure on you from the very beginning

The last thing you need is pressure when trading as you’ll make all the wrong decisions

  • It makes you think of your trading goals in financial gains

When you first start out trading, your goal – although it sounds rather counter intuitive – should not be about making money. It should be about learning the dynamics of the markets, ironing out your trading processes, getting your mentality right…and then focusing on NOT losing money. It was a lesson I had to learn the hard way – but you should always play the defensive game first when it comes to trading.

Adam Heathcote’s blog is meant to be inspirational, but it is not realistic – especially for those just starting out on their trading journey. Do not take it as standard that this is the level many people reach after a few years of learning the markets. Adam was an exceptional case by all standards.[/vc_column_text][vc_message message_box_color=”orange” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-book”]Read the blog post: Trading Psychology: 5 of the Best Books for the 5 best books that help every trader overcome the psychological challenges that come with mastering trading. So, what happened to Adam Heathcote after he hit £350,000?

Rather surprisingly, Adam gave up trading after a few years. From reading his blog and some other sources I think Adam had a larger goal in mind when he started making so much money and that was to start his own business. He also seemed to get annoyed at the unfair Premium Charge that Betfair introduced in 2009 which would have been taking a large chunk of his profits. His business is a health and wellbeing holiday company called Health and Fitness Travel which you can check out here http://www.healthandfitnesstravel.com.[/vc_column_text][vc_message]Links:

From my experience, and many others, these are 3 of the best reads to get you started on your Betfair Sports Trading journey. They all cover the basics of what you need to know when starting out and will help you familiarise yourself with the terminology used by traders. Without doubt, these provide new traders with good grounding for going forward.

Mastering Betfair: How to Make Serious Money Trading Betting Exchanges – Pete Nordsted

Essential reading for anyone serious about making money from Sports Trading. Taking you through low-risk strategies that can be used by anyone to profit from the markets, Pete Nordsted also teaches about the discipline needed to be a successful trader.

This book first takes you through the basics such as the hardware and software requirements, then the trading process, then money management, managing risk, trading psychology and finally a few strategies. Whereas Wayne Bailey’s book (discussed below) only touches on the psychology of trading, Pete Nordsted has a whole section of the book dedicated to it. Remember, trading is 80% psychology and 20% the actual skill of trading.

‘Mastering Betfair’ is for the aspiring trader who wants to keep a level head in and amongst the rush of the markets. Informative and methodical in its approach to teaching the reader the basics of mastering betting exchanges, it is a must-read for those just starting out on their journey.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1586″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://amzn.to/2weZwvg”][ult_dualbutton btn_border_style=”solid” button1_text=”Buy from Amazon” icon_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Famzn.to%2F2weZwvg||target:%20_blank|” btn1_background_color=”#eaca7a” btn1_bghovercolor=”#eabd4b” icon=”Defaults-shopping-cart” icon_align=”right” button2_text=”Buy from iBooks” btn_icon_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fgeo.itunes.apple.com%2Fgb%2Fbook%2Fmastering-betfair%2Fid388624679%3Fmt%3D11||target:%20_blank|” btn2_background_color=”#ffffff” btn2_bghovercolor=”#f1eafc” btn_icon=”Defaults-book” divider_text=”Or” btn_border_radius=”1″][vc_column_text]

Sports Trading on Betfair: Profitable Betting Exchange Systems for Trading on Betfair and Betdaq – Wayne Bailey

Perfect for those new to Sports Trading, Wayne Bailey’s ‘Sports Trading on Betfair’ provides the reader with an overview of the dynamics of a Betting Exchange such as odds movement and how and why the prices move. Included are some strategies Wayne uses to profit from the Football and Horse Racing markets himself.

As the first book on Sports Trading I ever purchased this gave me a good grounding in understanding just how Betting Exchanges like Betfair worked. I bought it in 2014 just as I was dipping my toe into matched betting as I became obsessed with the idea of making a second income from the online betting industry.

I had only actually started gambling, as a mug punter, 3 months before happening upon matched betting but the idea of sports trading intrigued me. Wayne Bailey’s book gives a good understanding about what it takes to become a professional sports trader and is written in a way so that anyone new to the exchanges will understand it easily, despite it being full of related terminology that may be new to some.

This book laid the ground for a lot of the knowledge I now know about trading and is a great beginners guide for an introduction to life in the markets. Terminology and the varying aspects of trading are all explained very clearly and in a straightforward manner. Put simply, this is a must-read for anyone new to sports trading and will give you the edge over anyone trying to figure it out for themselves.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1584″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://amzn.to/2wsxXxU”][ult_dualbutton btn_border_style=”solid” button1_text=”Buy from Amazon” icon_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Famzn.to%2F2wsxXxU||target:%20_blank|” btn1_background_color=”#eaca7a” btn1_bghovercolor=”#eabd4b” icon=”Defaults-shopping-cart” icon_align=”right” button2_text=”Buy from iBooks” btn_icon_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fgeo.itunes.apple.com%2Fgb%2Fbook%2Fsports-trading-on-betfair%2Fid1031894743%3Fmt%3D11%26at%3D1000lybC||target:%20_blank|” btn2_background_color=”#ffffff” btn2_bghovercolor=”#f1eafc” btn_icon=”Defaults-book” divider_text=”Or” btn_border_radius=”1″][vc_separator el_width=”80″][vc_column_text]Want to fast track your learning about Sports Trading? What Ways Can I Use Betfair Trading Community?

There are a couple of key features of BTC, the Stats Engine Software and the Facebook Group, but the real star of the show is the learning material and the environment. It is perfectly set up for people who really are at the very start of the journey.

Learning

If you don’t have the patience to read the books we’ve recommended in our ‘The 3 Best Betfair Sports Trading Books for Newbies’ blog then there are multiple guides on here that will fulfil your needs. These include:

  • The Get Started Guide for Betfair Trading Community
  • The Trading Beginner’s Guide, which covers:
    • What is Trading
    • How a Betting Exchange Works (Backing, Laying, Greening Up)
    • Types of Trade
    • Trading Tools
    • What Should I Trade
  • Football Trading Start Guide (rather than being a full on guide this is more a series of links to useful information in the form of blog posts, videos and eBooks dotted around the website and Facebook group)
  • Horse Racing Start Guide (same as above)

The Betfair Trading Community Facebook Group

The secret Facebook group is a place where all members congregate to share their knowledge, opinions and findings from their research regarding the daily trading. There are regular postings from the site owners, Ryan, Martin and Adam, who have no hesitation in answering newbie queries. It’s a fantastic place to enhance your knowledge and can only get better with time as more members join.

In here you will also learn about new site features being developed for the site where Adam, the Web and Software Development Manager, will often post to gain feedback. There is very much a policy of no question is a stupid question – if you don’t know something then just ask. One of the admins or another member who has been in the same position as you will always be willing to help you out.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1337″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image” css=”.vc_custom_1497266991207{border-radius: 2px !important;}”][vc_message]In the early days of your journey it’s important to feel like you’re a part of a community – otherwise it’s a lonely old game where you may struggle to find the right answers to your sports trading questions. This problem is solved through the Facebook group and is a worthy community to be a part of when cutting your teeth.[/vc_message][vc_column_text]

The Betfair Trading Community Stats Engine Software

The Stats Engine is specifically for Football only. It comprises data for the next 5 day’s worth of fixtures for around 200 leagues around the world with over 800 metric combinations to filter from. Again, Betfair Trading Community does a great job of teaching site members by having plenty of videoed example use cases of the software to provide an idea of how to search for certain stats and what strategies they best relate to.

There is one brilliant feature of the software which was introduced in April 2017. It now displays live information pulled directly from the Betfair markets. This means you can see the Betfair price, volume traded and Betfair graphs all within the BTC website itself – with the price and volume traded able to be filtered. Not only is this a huge time saver but it also means you will be able to spot at a glance if you have a potential value trade on your hands. The Betfair prices update every 5 minutes so you can be assured your prices are up to date.

[/vc_column_text][vc_message]Value is where, in your opinion, the price on Betfair does not reflect the true likelihood of that outcome happening. This is done by conducting historical research.[/vc_message][vc_single_image image=”1472″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image” css=”.vc_custom_1501938752072{border-radius: 2px !important;}”][vc_column_text]At the start, you may want to discuss your potential trade findings in the Facebook group to see whether you’ve overlooked something that the other traders may spot.

Whilst I think this is a nice piece of kit I do feel that Goal Profits’ software which is sectioned by strategy with automatic stats filtering is a class above. It’s for this reason that I’d recommend if you’re looking to start with a sole focus on football trading that you check out our Goal Profits review, here.

Just a Note…

I feel everything I’ve said in this review is a fair assessment, but I wanted to make an important point regarding where BTC is at the moment to provide some context to the readers.

This website not the finished article, the guys behind it would admit there’s a couple of things they need to iron out. But it definitely feels like Ryan, Martin and Adam are only really just getting started on the way to reaching the full potential of Betfair Trading Community. I can see this becoming a beast of the sports trading community in the years to come if they keep improving and growing at the pace they are currently.

Considering Betfair Trading Community literally just started out as a Facebook group it’s come a long way and has seen phenomenal growth since its inception.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Final Thoughts

Betfair Trading Community achieves what it sets out to do and that is to teach complete beginners some basic ways of profiting from the markets. However, there’s a ceiling point to be hit here once you’ve exhausted the content and have been a part of the community for a while. I have a feeling that this may lead some traders down the path of becoming jack of some trades but master of none. This may change in the future as I know the guys behind it have planned many more additions to the site in terms of content, guides, videos and software.

The bottom line is that this is a welcoming community that does a great job of teaching newcomers the basics of how to trade the Betfair sports markets. If this is your first foray into sports trading and you don’t necessarily want to focus on trading football then this is the perfect option to start with due to the amount of beginner-level learning material on offer.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Get Your 1st Month Half Price” style=”3d” color=”warning” size=”lg” align=”center” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-mouse-pointer” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Fbtc||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”][pricing_table][pricing_column title=”First Month” price=”14.99″ currency_symbol=”£” interval=”One Month” highlight=”enabled” highlight_text=”Best Value” highlight_color=”#81d742″ highlight_title_color=”#ffffff” highlight_background_color=”#ffffff”]

  • It’s nit-picking, but it would be great if there was at least one video example provided with every single trading strategy listed on the website
  • I feel the two ‘guides’ on Football and Horse Racing would be better if they were fully formed rather than just links to information that is dotted around the website. Linked files to E-books for the guides are in the Facebook group files – which means they are scattered and hard to find. I’m not sure why they haven’t just been uploaded to the website. However, I’m sure the guys have this on their to do list
  • The Stats Engine for Football is a notch below the capabilities of Goal Profit’s rival system

Who is Caan Berry?

Caan Berry has been a professional sports trader on Betfair since 2011. Many newcomers to trading find him instantly relatable to due to his initial struggles in finding consistency in his pre-race Horse Racing trading which are well documented on his blog. He’s very active on Social Media as he often replies to questions to newcomers to sports trading.

Caan has even featured in Betfair’s #BetfairTraders campaign which was run in 2014. You can see one of his videos from the campaign below.

What Do I Get In Caan Berry’s Pre-Race Trading Guide?

This is not a guide that will transform you from novice sports trader to professional after you’ve read it a few times. What it will do, though, is give novice traders an excellent starting point by providing all the essential information that traders need to know regarding trading the Betfair Horse Racing markets pre-off. It is logical in its layout and thorough in its explanations.

I found it one of the best learning resources when I began my trading journey. I only wish I had of found it at the very start to save me from wasted time and energy scouring the internet for the information contained in it.

As you can see there is a lot of content contained within that you may not have even think about when beginning your trading journey – but a lot of this information is essential knowledge if you are to make a success of trading the markets.

Personally, for me, the biggest piece of knowledge I took away from the guide was about the market participants – I never realised just how many different types of groups of people were in the market and what their motives were. When I started out trading I just assumed everyone using the Betfair Exchange was a trader! Oh, how unaware I was!

[/vc_column_text][vc_message]The information contained in Caan’s guide provides the perfect starting base for learning about how the Betfair horse racing markets function. [/vc_message][vc_column_text]RacingTrader’s Sports Trading Masterclass is outlined as a day that will cover the following areas:

  • How to improve your understanding of analysing sports markets and identify trading opportunities
  • Implement trading strategies using the analysis
  • Psychology of trading
  • Money management and discipline
  • In-play trading opportunities
  • Reading racing markets with minimal knowledge

  • And finally, how to move your sports trading from a hobby to having a serious approach

At the outset, Tony clearly says that the workshop will encompass his nine years of trading experience condensed into one day to show delegates the best way to get started, then improve, then succeed. He clearly stated that this would most definitely not be a get rich quick scheme and we’d need focus and dedication to make our sports trading profitable.

This course isn’t solely focused on Horse Racing but does cover some other sports too – mainly Cricket and Football.

The Day of the RacingTrader’s Sports Trading Masterclass

The course started early at around 9am and the morning session began with what the foundation principles of trading are and what it essentially is. Tony then showed us images of how his office was now set up and how it had evolved over the years to adapt with circumstances, trading styles and experience.

We then moved on to cover psychology and mindset with some excellent real life examples that required us to self-evaluate what our response in the situation would be. This very quickly helped to show the element of discipline that a sports trader requires and let us determine if at that point we were actually a ‘trader’ or a ‘punter’.

We covered an introduction to strategies for both horses and football, to give us a flavour of how to find value within the markets. Tony covered a lot of the strategies he regularly uses and showed us to how to put our research in to play in respect of the sport and markets we wanted to trade. There was reference to other sports too and we were given lots of examples of how you could begin trading these sports based upon current level of knowledge of the sport.

Another section included graphs and what everything meant, showing what can be interpreted and learned from them.

Next, we focused on on money management and what you should and shouldn’t do. Tony stressed the importance of exiting trades and showed us examples of what you should do and how to do it in certain given circumstances.

Lunch was excellent and it was also an opportunity to talk with other attendees who all seemed to be at different stages of either getting involved or being involved with sports trading.

After lunch, we had a live horse trading session which was great to see as it clearly demonstrated the elements that needed to be focused on and closely watched. Tony talked to us about how to watch races and the different types of feeds, how he trades in-play himself and angles to look for both for advantage as well as pitfalls.

I made notes during the day for my own reference but we were told at the outset that we’d be receiving a set of course slides so that enabled us to not have to focus on writing every single piece of information down. There really was a lot of valuable information shared during the day but like any course, it’s down to the delegates to work with it and put it in to play after the day has ended.[/vc_column_text][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=”gp-sports-trading-for-beginners-widget”][vc_column_text]

After Course

Three days after attending the course a comprehensive email was sent out including a full set of the PowerPoint slides used during the day, links to download copies of the Sports Trader eBook, Racing Trader eBook and Strategy eBook (other eBooks that are now available were written after the course was undertaken), a link to Football Form Labs and an offer of a free month of access to the BetTraders software. There was also a link to an explanation of how Tony uses Football Form Labs to inform his Football trading and a spreadsheet with prices as a percentage.[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=”What Edge Will It Give Me?” txt_align=”center” color=”white” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Check Current Course Availability” btn_style=”3d” btn_color=”warning” btn_align=”center” btn_i_align=”right” btn_i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-graduation-cap” btn_add_icon=”true” css=”.vc_custom_1500991489671{border-top-width: 5px !important;border-right-width: 5px !important;border-bottom-width: 5px !important;border-left-width: 5px !important;background-color: #81d742 !important;border-left-color: #cecece !important;border-left-style: outset !important;border-right-color: #cecece !important;border-right-style: outset !important;border-top-color: #cecece !important;border-top-style: outset !important;border-bottom-color: #cecece !important;border-bottom-style: outset !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Fracingtraders-courses||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”]

This course is perfect if you’re new to sports trading or are looking to find out what sports trading can offer and how to set about getting involved in sports trading. What it isn’t is a day of methodology and defined strategies that you can walk out the door with. Lots and lots of methodologies are covered during the day but with the emphasis that these need to be taken away and practiced in line with all the other information covered.

Final Thoughts on the RacingTrader’s Sports Trading Masterclass

Tony went to great lengths to get the participants to do lots of self-examination and actually question themselves as to whether or not they were cut out to be a sports trader.  The RacingTrader’s Sports Trading Masterclass is all about what you need to get involved in trading, the type of mindset and mentality you need and a ‘warts and all’ insight into both the good and bad as, after all, trading isn’t right for everyone.

I personally really enjoyed attending the course and as someone who was completely new to trading, the workshop provided an in-depth insight as to what could be achieved and how to get started. If you’re looking for pre-determined set methodologies then this isn’t really what the workshop is about but if you want to know more about how to get started or really improve on the sports trading journey and how to go about it then this course is ideal.

  • Watch as much video content as you can before attending the course – especially the YouTube content that Tony has put online – as well as the information on the RacingTraders website
  • Familiarise yourself with trading software as the course clearly demonstrates the edge that this gives when undertaking sports trading
  • Whilst this course is one of the better courses for anyone who is completely new to sports trading, if you haven’t already then check out these three books will prepare you for what sports trading entails before you book any courses

  • The course focused on the important elements need to become a profitable long term sports trader. Tony is extremely knowledgeable, was very attentive through the day and was very generous with the knowledge that he shared with the room
  • All delegates were also invited to join Tony for a drink and live football trading session after the course too which was a nice extra

Peter Webb Trading Masterclass Details:

[/vc_message][vc_column_text]Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass is a one day course held at the Bet Angel headquarters in Hook, Southampton that offers traders the chance to learn from Peter Webb, professional sports trader since 2000 about all aspects of Betfair Trading.

Background Information to Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass

Horse Racing is a massive industry and one of the most popular sports to trade on Betfair for several factors:

  • Tradable on almost every day of the year
  • Numerous opportunities daily due to the number of races
  • Highly liquid markets

It is the first sport that many of those new to trading on Betfair attempt to learn because of these factors. In my opinion Horse Racing is the true art of sports trading because you’re relying mainly on technical skills to read and react to the market as it is happening live. Whereas with many other sports, like football, a lot of research is done beforehand and is dependent on the events that occur in the football match. With pre-race trading you have much more control over the outcome as it is less reliant on external factors and more about your ability to read and trade the markets as you seen them.

Who Are Bet Angel and Peter Webb?

Peter Webb started using Betfair almost since the first day it came online, initially he used the platform for making risk-free profits through arbitrage betting until he realised that instead of backing with a traditional bookmaker and laying on Betfair he could complete the entire process on Betfair itself.

This led him to partner up with a software developer to create a trading software with an interface that would visually display relevant information he felt was needed to trade the sports markets to its full potential. Along with GeeksToy, Bet Angel is the most popular software on the market.

Peter has become a renowned name in sports trading due to his company’s videos on YouTube… and the small matter that he is one of the few millionaire Betfair traders.

Booking Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass Course

In your early attempts to become a Betfair trader it becomes apparent that there is so much knowledge you need to gain. It was a few months into my trading journey that I felt the time was right to head over to Southampton and attend one of Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass courses. Having previously attended the Bet Angel Horse Racing Workshop back in June (read that review by clicking here) and spent months implementing many of my learnings from that day I had now built up so many other questions about Sports Trading that I wished I had the answers to and so I booked the course at a cost of £400 via their bettingexchangeacademy.com website.

Pre-Course

The process followed just the same as my previous course booking with an email of the terms and conditions and a general overview of the course.

After sending an email back agreeing to the terms and conditions attendees are sent further details relating to the location, directions, airports and accommodation. Being from Belfast, I then had to get booking my flights and hotel. I was happy with the White Hart Hotel that I had stayed at last time so I booked myself in to it again.

The Day of Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass Course

Peter started off talking briefly about some of his key tips for success in becoming a professional sports trader:

  • Discipline and practice will lead to better execution
  • Discipline and your psychology are paramount
  • The combination of 1) Money Management 2) Strategy and 3) Tactics and Psychology are the three main aspects that are key to making yourself a successful sports trader

One of the guys asked Peter what his recommended books were for this and, rather surprisingly, he answered that he had never read ‘Trading in the Zone’ by Mark Douglas. He instead suggested two books – Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman (which is featured in our ‘Trading Psychology: 5 of the Best Books’ blog) and Mindware (Peter couldn’t remember the name of the author so i’m not entirely sure if it’s the book by Richard Nesbitt or the one by Andy Clark.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1608″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://amzn.to/2wkXbiC”][ult_dualbutton btn_border_style=”solid” button1_text=”Buy from Amazon” icon_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Famzn.to%2F2wkXbiC||target:%20_blank|” btn1_background_color=”#eaca7a” btn1_bghovercolor=”#eabd4b” icon=”Defaults-shopping-cart” icon_align=”right” button2_text=”Buy from iBooks” btn_icon_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fgeo.itunes.apple.com%2Fgb%2Fbook%2Fthinking-fast-and-slow%2Fid464822423%3Fmt%3D11||target:%20_blank|” btn2_background_color=”#ffffff” btn2_bghovercolor=”#f1eafc” btn_icon=”Defaults-book” divider_text=”Or” btn_border_radius=”1″][vc_column_text]This led to a discussion about how Peter and many professionals at the top of their game view trading, whether it’s sports trading or financial trading:

  • The best trades come from being a contrarian
  • Most of trading is counterintuitive
  • Showing control is a useful trait whereas being reactive is not
  • If you can understand what the brain is doing in the heat of trading then you can control it into reverting to plan and structure
[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Read the ‘Trading Psychology: 5 of the Best Books’ blog” style=”3d” color=”turquoise” align=”center” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-book” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Ftrading-psychology-5-best-books%2F||target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text]Next, we moved onto talking about the Horse Racing markets and gained some more insight about what every novice trader does wrong – including Peter himself when he started out:

  • Arrive at a market with a pre-set plan, otherwise you will try to find things that you cannot see
  • Do not try to interpret EVERYTHING that is going on – it is your goal to exploit when other people do this
  • Let the market work for you, do not be a follower
  • Transition yourself ahead of trends

Followed by questions Peter asks himself before entering a trade:

  • How volatile is the market?
  • How likely is my trade to succeed?
  • How often can I do it?
  • How safe is it to do it? (Stakes should be dependent on the level of risk)
[/vc_column_text][vc_message]A top tip I want to recommend to everyone who is looking to book this course – make sure you take notes throughout! There is a wealth of information on offer and you will not be able to remember half of it by the time you get home, which is not what you want when you’ve just spent £400 for the privilege…[/vc_message][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=”gp-sports-trading-for-beginners-widget”][vc_column_text]We then had a look at the afternoon’s horse racing card and Peter took us through a few things he looks for to prepare himself for the trading session. At this point we were provided some handouts – most of which I had received in the pre-race Horse Racing Workshop I had attended in June 2016. Then we broke for lunch. Again, tea, coffee and a range of sandwiches and pastries were provided.

Once finished we cracked on and started picking Peter’s brains about other sports such as football and even had some chat about the politics markets due to battle between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in the US Presidential election race.

Following this we had turned to our computer screens (each table has its own) to have a look at some live races on that day’s Horse Racing card and Peter asked us our opinion on what we thought was about to happen, where we thought a good entry was and any signals or obstacles we could see. To his credit, he did predict what was going to happen next and said how he would have traded it.

Peter discussed some of his thoughts on key signals such as Weight of Money and took all our questions and answered them in detail.  He also took us through a few videos showing certain types of market situation – such as when a big bettor comes in with tens of thousands of pounds – and what we should do in such a situation. He also touched on automation and how he uses it and how we could use it to test any of our own strategies.

The course finished up around 6pm and Peter handed out the coveted ‘Trading Bible’ (as it is named on the Bet Angel website). I was excited to get my hands on this as it’s a 334-page book which covers almost every aspect of sports trading and is written by Peter himself.

After Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass

After the course, it was time for me to head back to my hotel, order some dinner and get stuck into the book I had just been provided with.  I took my time with it and read it over several weeks to make sure I soaked in every bit of information in it. However, as I’ll discuss in the summary, much like the course itself I ended up with the feeling that it stopped short of helping with devising strategies.[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=”What Edge Will It Give Me?” txt_align=”center” color=”white” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Check Current Availability” btn_style=”3d” btn_color=”warning” btn_align=”center” btn_i_align=”right” btn_i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-graduation-cap” btn_add_icon=”true” css=”.vc_custom_1502054516338{border-top-width: 5px !important;border-right-width: 5px !important;border-bottom-width: 5px !important;border-left-width: 5px !important;background-color: #81d742 !important;border-left-color: #cecece !important;border-left-style: outset !important;border-right-color: #cecece !important;border-right-style: outset !important;border-top-color: #cecece !important;border-top-style: outset !important;border-bottom-color: #cecece !important;border-bottom-style: outset !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}” btn_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bettingexchangeacademy.com%2Fcourses|title:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bettingexchangeacademy.com%2Fcourses|target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”]

I would only recommend this course to those traders who have already been through the many pitfalls of trading and have started to build a solid consistency. If you have a platform you can work with and know what specific information you’d like to learn on the day from one of Betfair’s best ever traders then this course could be beneficial to you.

[/vc_cta][vc_column_text]

Final Thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed Peter Webb’s Trading Masterclass and it was a great session to learn lots of great knowledge from one of the best traders in the game, however just like the Horse Racing Workshop I came away feeling like it had given me everything I needed…up until a point.

As a novice trader, all the information we learned is great – but without having a nudge in the right direction about which strategies to deploy and when it is difficult to have a starting base to start devising your own strategies and style of trading. I’ve heard many others who have attended these courses comment on this too. I had hoped the ‘Trading Bible’ would answer some of my queries regarding strategies but everything said about the course applies to the book too.

Let me be clear – I am not slating the Bet Angel courses. I just feel that these courses are more suited to those with more experience than your average novice trader who would know exactly what information they need to find out. I took lots of great information and knowledge away from the day that I am sure will benefit me in the future, but I’ll still have to go some more phases of trial and error before I fully find my feet in the horse racing markets.

If you’ve been on a Learn to Trade Workshop or availed of Bet Angel’s Personal Mentoring sessions please get in touch if you’d like to review it!

  • Bring a notepad and make notes – there is a lot of information to take in!
  • Make sure to at least have trialled a Sports Trading Software (if you’re entirely new to these then have a look at our blog post, here) before you attend so you are familiar with the interface and some of the key indicators the course tutor is referring to. Bet Angel offer a two-week trial.
  • I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone who is completely new to sports trading. If you haven’t already then read these three books that are perfect for beginners before booking any courses.

  • Nice amount of course participants (6) meant we all had a chance to ask our questions and get a detailed response
  • Very informative and in-depth. Peter took the time to share his great knowledge of the markets and answer any question we had
  • Some amazing tips and insight

  • As with the Bet Angel Horse Racing workshop we were left with no practical strategy to go away and get started with
  • I also felt that it would have been nicer if there had been more structure to the course
  • Pricey at £400 when there are better (and cheaper) courses out there
