OddsMonkey Challenge: Week 4 Summary – CHALLENGE FAILED!

Hi guys,

Week 4 of the OddsMonkey challenge finished on Sunday 8th of October.

I could have made my £1,500 target but I was too busy working on new things for the site and it was important I got the ‘Sports Trading for Beginners’ email course launched before going on my holiday to Portugal!

Another thing was my motivation wasn’t as high after I hit a big £600 win in Week 3 of the OddsMonkey matched betting challenge.

My total profit for Week 4 was…actually a loss of £19.96! This isn’t too surprising as I didn’t do a lot of offers, but also because it’s not odd to have the odd losing week or two with matched betting.

The important thing is that I made profit on each of the other weeks and over the long term this translated into a total profit of £1,347.55! Which is fantastic for a month’s ‘work’!

You can see my last week’s spreadsheet screenshot below.

  • Week 1’s profit: £398.06
  • + Week 2’s profit: £97.21
  • + Week 3’s profit: £872.74
  • + Week 4’s profit: -£19.96

Total profit so far: £1,347.55

In summary, the challenge was fun. It really pushed me to to do as much with my initial £500 bankroll and to use it in a smart way so as to not overstretch it. It goes to show that you can still achieve good profits even with lots of gubbed accounts – but you may need to define your strategy to achieve it![/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Get Your Free Trial with OddsMonkey” style=”3d” color=”warning” size=”lg” align=”center” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-mouse-pointer” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Foddsm||target:%20_blank|”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_single_image image=”2773″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Ps. OddsMonkey Challenge: Week 3 Summary – £872.74 Profit

[vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1498427789377{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”2579″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Hi guys,

Week 3 of the OddsMonkey challenge finished on Friday 29th of September and boy what a week it was!

I was starting to get a bit desperate as my lack of time was causing a hindrance to the amount of offers I was being able to complete (I’m working hard on a new ‘Sports Trading for Beginners’ email course that I’m launching on Wednesday 4th of October).

However, once again Casino offers saved my ass.

Casino offers have always been a mainstay of my Matched Betting and have provided most of my profits over the past few years. Some people think there’s too much risk in them, but there’s not – if you do them correctly. What do I mean by correctly? Well, a few things:

  • Think long term and realise it’s a matter of the Law of Large Numbers
  • Believe in Estimated/Expected Value
  • Wager on the right slots – anything with an RTP% (Return to Player %) of over 96% is good enough (you can check the RTP% of a slot by googling its name and added RTP% to the search)

With this belief, I hoped I’d be able to get at least 1 decent win this month that would bump up my total considerably. With a small bankroll I wasn’t able to complete some more of the higher value sports sign up offers – so I made a decision: Be willing to risk it all.

By this, I don’t mean throwing my money stupidly at any and every casino offer that came my way, but to do as many of the low-medium risk offers as I could. I was willing to walk away from this challenge have totally flopped at it or by giving it a go and hoping variance would be in my favour for the month.

I set my sights on a few offers – these included the raft of the Gamesys Group sign ups (Jackpot Joy, Heart Bingo, Monopoly Casino, Caesars Bingo and Starspins). These all provide excellent sign ups with £10 deposits getting you anywhere between 200-300% bonuses. Luckily, despite losing the full £10 deposit on 4 out of 5 of these offers I did get one decent win which covered them and more – a £110 win from Monopoly casino.

But the real star of the show this week was Grosvenor Casinos. They twice offered 50% deposit bonuses up to £20 on their Casino section but – here’s the great thing – there’s a loophole on Grosvenor Casinos whereby you can bet your initial deposit on the Sportsbook (allowing you to lay off on a betting exchange for a small loss) and it leaves your bonus funds completely free to use. So, in my case, I made a small loss on my qualifying bet (a couple of quid on Goteborg in Sweden) but now I had a free £20 to use on Casino! Excellent value!

Thankfully I hit one of those big wins – a huge £400 on the Lucky Wizard slot and then I took these winnings to another slot to grind out the rest of the wagering. I finished £641.15 up overall. Magical! (Images are at the bottom of this post)

So, for the duration of Week 3, I made a total profit of £872.74 – which is huge! Like I always tell people – believe in EV (Estimated Value).

  • Week 1’s profit: £398.06
  • + Week 2’s profit: £97.21
  • + Week 3’s profit: £872.74

Total profit so far: £1,367.51

This means in my final week I’ve only got to find a total of £132.49! OddsMonkey Challenge: Week 2 Summary – £97.21 Profit

Hi guys,

Just a quick update this week as I’m out and about and writing this while on the road.

Slow Goings, But a Profit Nonetheless

Friday 15th to Friday 22nd of September was a  slightly slow week, but I’ve been able to do 6 sign ups in total and this has generated most of my profits for the past 7 days. I’ve had no luck with casino offers though and haven’t won a single penny. However, as I always say with Casino it’s about playing the longer term game and you can’t look at results on a daily or weekly basis. I don’t even recommend looking at them on a monthly basis but I’ve set myself this challenge and I’m just hoping that variance is on my side over the next 2 weeks.

My profit for the week was only £97.21.

  • Week 1’s profit: £398.06
  • + Week 2’s profit: £97.21
  • Total Profit so far: £495.27

OddsMonkey Challenge: Week 1 Summary – £394.81 Profit

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1498427789377{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”2579″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]

Wow. Where to begin? What a week! 4 days into the challenge I was starting to become concerned that I was already going to have to admit defeat in reaching the challenge target of £1,500 in 4 Weeks.

Things started off steady as I began following my Week 1 plan (outlined here in my OddsMonkey Challenge Preview blog) on Friday 8th of September. However, the major issue in the first weekend was most of my bets were winning into the bookmakers! Even a number of my free bets, which are best used at odds above 5.0, were winning into the bookies. This almost completely wiped out my Smarkets bankroll.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Get Your Free Trial with OddsMonkey” style=”3d” color=”warning” size=”lg” align=”center” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-mouse-pointer” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Foddsm||target:%20_blank|”][vc_message color=”info”]Top Tip: One of my plans was to use combined liability when laying my free bets on Smarkets. For example, backing multiple outcomes in the same market – such as spreading your risk across a number of Correct Scores.

This improves cash flow as it means your liability gets shared between all the outcomes you’ve layed. I didn’t actually get to use this strategy, but it is a very useful thing to do if you have a large enough bank.[/vc_message][vc_column_text]The biggest nuisances were Hobro scoring a winning goal in the dying minutes and Metz somehow scoring against PSG (both on Friday), then Watford (who were 5.80!) securing all 3 points vs Southampton with two absolute wonder strikes on the Saturday. Then to top off a bad weekend, Lee-Chung Yong’s ill-advised back pass 3 minutes into the Burnley vs Crystal Palace game on Sunday meant that my Burnley bets also won.

The reason this was such a nuisance is because I’ve given myself such a tight bankroll of £500 and only a short timeframe to achieve this challenge. But with most of my bets winning into the bookies it meant I then had to wait for withdrawals (which usually take 3-4 days to arrive back into my bank account) before I could get going again.

Even though I had made a decent profit from all the sign ups I’d done this meant I would have to wait until Wednesday at least before I had any sort of significant amount that I could put back into Smarkets so I could cover any lay bets for completing new sign ups.

By the end of play on Monday I was £87.81 up. Not bad going considering I was only 4 days into my challenge, but I knew there was a significant speed bump in the road with my lack of bankroll to be able to continue completing the other sign ups I had planned on doing.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_single_image image=”2603″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]

The Bit of Luck I Needed

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2604″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]However, late on Monday whilst I was having a check of the daily calendar on OddsMonkey, I realised there was a decent Bingo offer on at William Hill. I didn’t want to start doing Casino or Bingo offers in my first week – it wasn’t part of the plan. But in desperation I felt I had to try something whilst I waited for the withdrawals to hit my bank account. This offer was Wager £10 on the Twinkle slot through Bingo and get £5 free with 10x Wagering Requirements. This is a decent offer that could be repeated each day from Sunday to Thursday (unfortunately I had missed the Sunday).[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2605″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]On Monday I was – £7.08, on Tuesday I finished wagering with £9 profit but on Wednesday I hit a fairly big win and finished wagering with £92.20 profit. Thank f**k! On Thursday I ended up -£11.78 (I overstaked, oops!). You can see a screenshot of the decent win from Wednesday below:[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2606″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Then there was the Coral offer on Champions League matches on Tuesday and Wednesday… Ah. This was just beautiful. It couldn’t have worked out much better.

I was fully aware walking into this offer and using the following strategy that I could lose £50 and gain absolutely nothing – giving me a real setback in my challenge. But because of my lack of bankroll for Smarkets I was forced into doing the offer using the Advantage Play strategy.[/vc_column_text][vc_raw_js]JTNDc2NyaXB0JTIwdHlwZSUzRCUyN3RleHQlMkZqYXZhc2NyaXB0JTI3JTIwc3JjJTNEJTIyaHR0cHMlM0ElMkYlMkZ3bHNtYXJrZXRzLmFkc3J2LmVhY2RuLmNvbSUyRlMuYXNoeCUzRmJ0YWclM0RhXzExNTFiXzMxY18lMjZhZmZpZCUzRDI1NzI2JTI2c2l0ZWlkJTNEMTE1MSUyNmFkaWQlM0QzMSUyNmMlM0QlMjIlMjAlM0UlM0MlMkZzY3JpcHQlM0U=[/vc_raw_js][vc_message color=”info”]

What is Advantage Play?

Advantage Play (or AP) is when the odds of an offer are in your favour mathematically. For example, if a bookie is offering a free bet refund if your selection loses then rather than matching your 1st back bet by laying it on exchange in order to guarantee yourself a profit you would just let it run its course and hope the bet wins.

If the bet does win then awesome – you’re quids in! If it doesn’t then you at least have a 2nd chance to win by placing another bet with the free bet refund. This gives you double the chances of making a profit.[/vc_message][vc_column_text]As this could be done on all 5 Champions League matches involving English teams I could have made a guaranteed profit of around £25-30 by laying the bets off on the exchange – but I would have needed to have had at least £200-250 in my Smarkets exchange to be able to do this. So, I used the Advantage Play strategy outlined above.

Thankfully, out of my all my bets I had some big winners as I placed the following:

  • Tuesday: Liverpool vs Sevilla – Liverpool HT/Draw FT (Placed just after Liverpool went 0-1 behind)
  • Wednesday: Arsenal vs Koln – Arsenal 2-1 and 3-1 Correct Score (Placed at half time when Arsenal were also 0-1 behind)

Week 1 Results

By the end of play Thursday my total stood at £394.81. I’m absolutely delighted with this as my first week’s target was £250. This also means my bank now stands at £894.81 (£394.81 profit plus the original £500 starting bank) meaning I can complete more offers during Week 2 and not have to worry about my Exchange bankroll too much.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2608″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]

Week 2 Plans

Throughout Week 2 I plan to continue completing more sign up offers (hopefully results will be kinder to me this time and more of my bets win into Smarkets!). I will also be doing any low-risk or medium risk Casino or Bingo offers that come my way, although I’m prepared for a slight downturn in variance as I admit I got very lucky in my first week! My target for Week 2 is £350 profit.

OddsMonkey Challenge: £1,500 in 4 Weeks? Preview

[vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1498427789377{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”2579″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]

Hi guys! Neal here.

So, I decided to set myself a challenge to earn £1,500 in 4 weeks from Matched Betting with OddsMonkey – a matched betting service I’ve been using for just over a couple of months now.

I’ve used another matched betting service provider since I started, but after using OddsMonkey for my review I genuinely believe it is the best one out there for anybody new to matched betting because of its:

  • Low monthly and yearly subscription cost
  • The amount of awesome matched betting tools it offers means it is great value for money
  • They are a very reliable and reputable service having been in the matched betting industry since 2011

If you want to follow along on my challenge you can sign up for a free trial with OddsMonkey, by clicking the button below:[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Get Your Free Trial with OddsMonkey” style=”3d” color=”warning” size=”lg” align=”center” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-mouse-pointer” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Foddsm||target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text]

What’s My Background in Matched Betting?

I started matched betting around May 2014 so I’ve been at it a fair while and have made a lot of money from it. It has honestly been one of the most life-changing experiences i‘ve ever had. However, in June 2016 I started focusing my efforts on learning Sports Trading, and as the months went on I found myself less and less inclined to do any matched betting as I became obsessed with learning Sports Trading. (I’m a man and find it very hard to multitask, haha).

This meant that between pretty much November 2016 and now (Sept 2017) I stopped doing matched betting altogether. But now I have a reason to get back into it!

Why Am I Doing This Matched Betting Challenge?

I’m heading away to New Zealand in November and have a need to add to my savings before I land in the country. Whilst I know sports trading is going to take a while longer for me to become consistently profitable I thought I’d go back to matched betting for 4 weeks to make as much money as I can before I head off as it’s where I’m pretty much guaranteed consistent profits.

My Strategy

To be able to achieve £1,500 in the space of just 4 weeks (especially with so many sign ups already done and plenty of gubbings already handed to me) I’m going to have to have a strategy as to how to achieve this.

Here it is in all its (basic) glory:

My Bankroll

First up, I wanted to talk about my bank. I’ve settled on the idea that a £500 bank will be fine. Although this makes me a bit nervous as I’m used to having a much larger bankroll! This is why i‘ve outlined a weekly strategy that can be seen below because, quite simply, I’m going to have to put this bankroll to good use and use it in a strategic manner.

My Tactics and Weekly Strategies

For this challenge, I’ll be using Smarkets for their 2% commission. This will help me make a few pounds extra profit towards my £1,500 target due to the money saved in the 3% difference in commission between Betfair and Smarkets. Every little helps, right?

I’ve already signed up to Smarkets so their offer won’t be including in my sign-up profits, but if you’d like to follow along you can sign up to them and get £10 risk free, here:

Week 1: Bank Building – A Focus on Sign Ups

Target – £250 Profit

I’ve been at Matched Betting for over 3 years now and I’ve signed up to quite a few bookies. But there was a tonne I never done because I took advantage of the repeatedly good value in reload offers provided by the main ones like William Hill, Paddy Power, Bet365 and such.

Because of this I got lazy with doing sign ups, so I still have a load that I can do. I’ve estimated that the ones I have left are worth about £600 – so that still leaves me with £900 to make….

In the first couple of weeks I will be focusing on the smaller sign-up offers such as 188Bet’s Bet £10 get £20 in Free Bets, and 888Sport’s Bet £10, get £30 in Free bets as these will suit my bankroll. For example, I have never done 10Bet’s £200 Sign Up Bonus, but there’s no way I could tackle it in the first week with a £500 bank. I’ll have to wait until late in Week 3 to even think about attempting it as I’ll have to be confident I’ll have enough money in the bankroll to cover the potentially huge rollover.

You can see a full list of the sign ups I’ve already done at the bottom of this post. I’ve also provided a list of the bookies I’m already gubbed by and won’t be able to use for sports offers (although some still allow me to do casino offers).

Week 2 – More Bank Building Through Sign Ups and Introduction of Casino Reload Offers

Target – £350 Profit

This will be more of the same as the first week – doing more sign ups. However, I may start introducing Casino reload offers if any come my way either through being sent promotional emails or if I spot any on the OddsMonkey daily calendar.

Throughout this challenge, I will only be focusing on low-risk and medium-risk offers as this is not the time or place to be trying to ride out the huge variance that comes with high-risk casino offers in a 4-week challenge.

Week 3 – Continued Bank Building, Introduction of Casino Sign Up Offers and Bingo Sign Up Offers, Plus Continuation of Casino Reload Offers

Target – £450 Profit

By this time, I’ll be able to take on some of the larger value sign ups that I have left to do, plus the ones which are a little more difficult due to the rollover wagering requirements stipulated in their T&C’s (for example, Royal Panda’s £100 sign up offer of which the OddsMonkey instructions for can be seen below).[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_single_image image=”2586″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Week 4 – Completion of Big Value Sign Ups, Continuation of Casino and Bingo Reload Offers and Introduction of Acca Offers

Target – £450 Profit

By this stage, this is where compounding will have hopefully worked its magic and my bankroll should be around the £1500 mark (Consisting of the £500 bankroll and the roughly £1,000 profit I’ll have hopefully have made).

This would allow me to take on the high value sign up offers such as 10Bet’s £200 deposit bonus. I will also continue doing the casino and bingo reload offers whilst also tackling a few Acca Offers (of which I’ve never done too much of before!)

The Rules

Finally, I want to lay down some rules as to what I’m allowed to and not allowed to do. I want to make it clear that I will not be doing offers multiple times through what is known as multi-accounting/gnoming. Because if I was, and I had a large enough bank I’d probably be able to make £1,500 in just over a week.

  • The challenge will run from today (Friday 8th of September until Sunday 8th of October)
  • £500 Bankroll where I cannot overstretch my liability (I have a way of being able to ensure I can make the most of this and I’ll be sharing this tip with you in Week 1’s post)
  • Can only use offers that I find on OddsMonkey’s website or forum
  • No Skrill
  • Must include a variety of offers – Accas, Casino, Sign Ups and Bingo
  • Finally, NO MULTI-ACCOUNTING/GNOMING. I will not be doing any offer more than ONE time with any bookmaker

There’s something to suit everyone with the following 4 options:[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]

1. OddsMonkey – Free Trial (Make £45)

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_single_image image=”1041″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://www.sportstradingtools.co.uk/oddsm”][vc_column_text]The OddsMonkey free trial provides you with some of the introduction guides to matched betting plus full video and written instructions to two sign up offers from which you will be able to make around £45.

That’s enough to pay for 3 months of subscription. If you decide to go for the full version you have a full 30 days to claim a refund on the first month’s payment – no questions asked.

  • Purchase Details: No credit card details needed
  • How much you can make during the fee trial: Around £45
  • Estimated free bet sign up offers total: £1,192
  • Money back guarantee that comes with full subscription: The site’s money back guarantee is available on both the monthly and annual versions. “OddsMonkey guarantees complete satisfaction with your experience. If you decide OddsMonkey is not for you, and you notify us within 30 days of your first purchase, we will refund your first payment, no questions asked.”

This will typically make around £45 – and is enough to pay for your first 2 months to the full subscription. If you decide to go for the full version you have 30 days to claim the refund but they do say you won’t be entitled to it if you’ve made a profit.

  • Purchase Details: No credit card details needed
  • How much you can make during the fee trial: Around £45
  • Estimated free bet sign up offers total: £1,227
  • Money back guarantee that comes with full subscription: “If you sign up to Platinum and decide at any point during your first 30 days that Matched Betting isn’t for you, we’ll refund your money – as long as you haven’t made a profit.”

  • How much you can make during the £1 trial? The world is your oyster, you can make as much as you can attempt in that time

This is a service that is completely designed from the ground up to suit beginners. Not only does it teach the matched betting process in full via video and written instructions, but it:

  • Hand holds you through step by step email instructions and provides precise links to the bookmaker and Betfair markets
  • Provides the event/selection you can do your matched bets on
  • Works out the exact staking for you

You can see an example of one of these emails below.

  • Purchase Details: Payment is processed through Clickbank, a reputable online marketplace, and there is a 60-day money back guarantee.
  • Estimated free bet sign up offers total: With the sign-up offers that are listed at the moment, approximately £372. (April 2017)
  • Money back guarantee that comes with full subscription: Again, just like Profit Maximiser, the £1 for the trial is non-refundable. With the full subscription, however, there’s a 60-day money back guarantee that is given – no questions asked.
[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2142″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]In the email example above, Mike Cruickshank (creator of Bonus Bagging) has sent us the instructions to to qualify for a free bet from a bookmaker. The 3 Best FREE Tools for Football Trading and Matched Betting

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1498050547697{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_column_text]These tools are 3 of the most excellent free resources available on the internet and can help football traders with almost every aspect of trading the beautiful game. Whether you’re a trader or matched bettor who’s more focused on the in-play markets, pre-match markets or just want a great free tool for doing some statistical research the following 3 resources will have you covered:[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Flashscores

Flashscores is the go-to app for keeping tabs on the football matches you have an active interest in. Whilst it has some uses for research – such as for checking the recent H2Hs between teams – I find it’s best use is for selecting the games you want to keep track of and getting notifications for a number of things:

  • Reminders for when the match is about to start (1 hour before KO)
  • For when a match kicks off
  • Goals
  • Red cards
  • Line-ups

I would say Flashscores has slightly less use for trading, unless you’re out and about and doing some automated stuff and you just want to be kept informed of the current scores. I’d assume if you’re trading the game I’m sure you’d be paying much more attention to the Betfair trading software you’re trading it on and watching the match live meaning that Flashscores has little use.

But a real fantastic use of it is for matched betting accumulators as often you have many games you need to keep an eye on and have a real need to know when they’re about to start.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2455″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_separator el_width=”80″][vc_column_text]If you want a fuller bodied tool to use for in-play trading the In-Play Scanner comes highly recommended. Read my full review, here.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator el_width=”80″][vc_column_text]

Soccerstats

I love this website. It’s such an excellent (and completely free!) resource. It has stats on almost everything but I’ve found it is particularly excellent for researching Over/Unders. For example, in the table screenshotted below you can see at a quick glance which teams have had the majority of their games end Under 2.5 Goals (highlighted in red).

You can delve much deeper into these stats by clicking around through each individual team, their recent head to heads and much, much more. I recommend you take a look yourself as it has far too many use cases for me to list them all here.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2456″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_message]Top Tip: If you’re using a tool like SoccerStats it’s best to wait around 5 matches into the season where stats have more relevance and when the impact of anomalies will be slightly less.[/vc_message][vc_separator el_width=”80″][vc_column_text]Interested in trading football and joining a community of football traders? Goal Profits is my number 1 recommended tool for football trading due to its excellent learning resources for newcomers to trading. Read my full review, here.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator el_width=”80″][vc_column_text]

OddsPortal

I only started using this tool when I began my exploits in Pre-Match Trading. On one of the Skype groups I joined someone mentioned that they used OddsPortal to research the historical odds of fixtures they planned to trade pre-match. This is invaluable as you can get the starting prices of the previous head to heads of the game you’re researching.

This often give you a good idea of what the price may be hovering around when the game gets to kick off time. Of course, this depends a lot on there not being many varying circumstantial differences from the previous time the teams met – ie Barcelona’s price would be completely different if they were without both Suarez and Messi, for example.

Another great use of OddsPortal is that it keeps track of the movement of the prices between bookmakers. For an example, see the screenshot below where I’ve highlighted the movement of Pinnacle’s Real Madrid odds vs Barcelona in the 2nd leg of the 2017 Spanish Super Cup.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2457″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_separator el_width=”80″][vc_column_text]Want to delve deeper into the lower-risk world of pre-match football trading? Check out my full review of the outstanding Pre-Match Trading software, here.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator el_width=”80″][vc_column_text]

I can confirm for you now that said website was not Profit Maximiser. Definitely not Profit Maximiser. (It was Profit Maximiser. Or Profit ‘Maximizers’ as Geoff liked to call their members when he was giving the site some extremely good publicity to his 9,000+ followers on Twitter.)[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2421″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]But it’s not like The Guardian would have ever promoted matched betting sites such as the likes of Profit Maximiser before…[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2422″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]…or even dared hint at the multi-accounting that has so exasperated Geoff. Ahem… Oops.

By the way, if at this point you’re not aware of what Matched Betting is, you can read my guide, here. But essentially, it’s the simple method of extracting real money from free bet bonus offers that bookmakers regularly offer through laying them on a betting exchange such as Betfair or Smarkets. There are numerous websites out there that help punters extract this risk-free profit – as seen in my Matched Betting Service Comparison.

But I’d like to argue that Geoff ‘The Beaten Bookie’ Banks is wrong to berate the ‘terrorists’ who ‘cyber attacked’ his website and to illustrate this I’ve given him 3 ideas as to how he can proactively counteract it in the future:

Idea #1: The Beaten Bookie Should Set a Limit on New Registrations

Geoff Banks isn’t an idiot. In fact, I think we’d all agree that bookmakers are a bunch of pretty smart people. So why give off about Matched Betting sites like Profit Maximiser instead of busting the chops of his staff who allowed his firm to be taken advantage of?

Any smart bookie who wants to discourage a flood of matched bettors sets a limit on how many people can take part in their sign-up promotions. It’s been done before by firms in the industry, so why didn’t his company foresee this (quite obvious) potential problem?

Idea #2: It’s Fair Game. If You Can’t Handle the Fight Don’t Enter the Ring

For point two I’d like to refer to a quote in the aforementioned Guardian article which helped Geoff spout his views into the ether:

“There is nothing illegal or wrong in people taking advantage of bookmakers if they are silly enough to make free bet offers. One person can take up as many offers as they like and bookmakers should not expect loyalty or anything else.”

Geoff Banks

Begs the question then, Geoff, why offer free bets when it’s evident that educated bettors can take advantage of ‘silly’ bookmakers?

Can't Abuse Free Bet Promotions Meme

Idea #3: Find a Unique Selling Point to Stop Your Firm from Falling Even Further Behind Within the Industry

I think a lot of the big bookmakers are still adapting to the ever-evolving digital landscape – ie the increase in the technological advances of the internet era and the birth of the Betting Exchange. Which, by the way, happened over 17 years ago now and yet the haggard old bookies are STILL complaining about it.

Some bookies have floundered whilst some have achieved better success than others. Betfair obviously have their pioneering Betting Exchange and Bet365 have their all-digital business model. But let’s take, for example, Paddy Power. What would you say is their USP (Unique Selling Point)?

  • It’s not their odds. I’m pretty sure everyone reading this would agree on that.
  • It’s not their website either. It’s nowhere near as beautifully designed and accessible as Bet365’s.
  • It’s most definitely not their slow and clunky mobile app (this is one similarity they share with your own app, Geoff). Which is, again, blown out of the water by Bet365’s sleek and sophisticated piece of technology that provides an outstanding user experience for the user.

Do you know what it is yet, Geoff? It’s simple – it’s their marketing!

Paddy Power have a brand and voice that outreaches the vast majority of their competitors. With their 670k followers on Twitter they have almost double the amount of Bet365’s follower base and around 5 times the amount of Betfair. And over 600,000 times more than Geoff Banks’ company’s own Twitter….ahem.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”2424″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”2426″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”2425″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]This is because Paddy’s brand voice is distinct, visceral and pitches its tone with perfect timing to their target market.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”12px”][vc_raw_js]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[/vc_raw_js][vc_column_text]So, when you complain about punters not showing any loyalty to bookmakers these days maybe you should reflect on your company’s own brand and why they don’t show any loyalty to you. It’s not about the odds or the offers. People very rarely bet with Bet365 or Paddy Power because they promote great offers – it’s about their USP inside the industry. Bet365 with its great outstanding user experience across all digital platforms and Paddy Power, because, y’know, their brand persona has helped to define themselves as if they’re just every 18-35 year-old male’s best mate.

Conclusion

Geoff may have done a benefit to matched betting sites like Profit Maximiser by giving them a good bit of free promotion with this spat.  I doubt the Gambling Commission will truly care about the complaints submitted to them because they’re never going to be able to stop bookmakers offering free bets – and bookmakers wouldn’t want to stop offering them whilst there’s still millions more punters out there for them to capture.

In hindsight you may have just exacerbated the problem of matched betting for the industry. Rule #1 for Bookmakers in such a tough industry, Geoff – Don’t talk about Matched Betting clubs.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

5 Things Normal People Do with Their Matched Betting Earnings

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1498427789377{border: 1px solid #cecece !important;border-radius: 1px !important;}”][vc_column_text]It’s no secret that since 2008 and the financial crisis that the regular man and woman has been getting screwed. There’s not a week goes by that I read an article on the internet that tells me inflation is rising yet wages are falling. What happens when prices rises but wages fall? People get financially squeezed!

“The upshot is that today’s young adults are the first generation since at least World War Two not to start their working lives with higher incomes than those born before them.”

(Source: BBC News April 2017 www.bbc.co.uk/news/)

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]That article and quote was published in the month I turned 28 myself and when I read it I couldn’t help but find it an incredibly depressing fact! As someone who’s been matched betting since 2014 I don’t know how many people my age get by with just their yearly salary.

So, to give you some inspiration to start your path to financial freedom I’ve pulled 5 example from the Profit Maximiser Facebook group of what real people like you and me are spending their matched betting earnings on.

Just a note: The following includes real examples from Profit Maximiser, the matched betting service I personally use. I’ve blurred out the names on the posts for privacy reasons, but if you want to verify them yourself you can search for them when you get into the Profit Maximiser Facebook group.

1. Pay for Their Dream Car

It’s an obvious one, isn’t it? All of these guys on Profit Maximiser posted to show off their new purchases. It’s jokingly known as ‘willy waving’ on the Facebook group but sure why wouldn’t you show people what you’ve bought with your new found financial freedom?

People want to see what others are doing and get inspired to take action. Whilst I didn’t use my matched betting funds to put down a deposit on my car, I do use the money to pay it off every month. I had a Renault Clio that was falling apart, so I got myself a Volkswagen Scirocco in 2015 and I love it!

Then you have people who like to buy a £50k Aston Martin from their profits…[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1738″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_single_image image=”1739″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_single_image image=”1740″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_cta h2=”Profit Maximiser” txt_align=”center” color=”white” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Find Out More” btn_style=”3d” btn_color=”warning” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” btn_i_align=”right” btn_i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-mouse-pointer” btn_add_icon=”true” css=”.vc_custom_1501105142306{border-top-width: 5px !important;border-right-width: 5px !important;border-bottom-width: 5px !important;border-left-width: 5px !important;background-color: #81d742 !important;border-left-color: #cecece !important;border-left-style: outset !important;border-right-color: #cecece !important;border-right-style: outset !important;border-top-color: #cecece !important;border-top-style: outset !important;border-bottom-color: #cecece !important;border-bottom-style: outset !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Fprofitmax||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”]

Profit Maximiser will open your eyes on how to make consistent, long-term profits by outsmarting the bookmakers with simple maths time and time again. In truth, there is no better edge in betting than using a product like Profit Maximiser. If you take action you will have the yearly sub made back within a week. It is a life-changing product.

With a 30-day trial available for only £1, the only question is, are you willing to take the chance on spending £1 to potentially make thousands?

2. Pay for Their Deposit on a New House/Pay Their Mortgage/Pay Their Rent

People frequently post on Profit Maximiser about how they’ve put their money to good use by putting it down as a deposit on a new house or even just increasing their mortgage payments so they can pay it off sooner.

You can tell by their posts in the Facebook group that matched betting has been of huge benefit to them – I mean, who wouldn’t want some help with paying off such a massive amount of money such as mortgage or a deposit on a house.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1748″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_single_image image=”1749″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_single_image image=”1750″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]

3. Pay for The Little Luxuries in Life

I’ll take the mic on this one and speak from my own experience. When I started matched betting I was 25, living at home and had just started my first office job. So, the money I was making from Profit Maximiser was spent on myself. Because why not? I bought:

  • A Playstation 4 – my first big purchase
  • A new 42” HDTV to go along with it
  • A new Macbook
  • A new Macbook Air for my brother for Xmas – how generous was I?!
  • A holiday to Thailand – if you haven’t been, I highly recommend it!
  • A city break to Rome for me and my Mum – cus I love my Mum and she deserved it!

Looking back now, I kind of wish I’d kept some more of it and invested it, but I was financially naïve. These days, since I’ve moved out, I use matched betting to pay for the more simple things like rent, living expenses and paying my car. But I also find some time to invest it into the likes of Bitcoin.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Try Profit Maximiser for Just £1!” style=”3d” color=”warning” size=”lg” align=”center” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-mouse-pointer” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportstradingtools.co.uk%2Fprofitmax||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”][vc_column_text]

4. Starting A Business/Investing it

I’ve seen countless people on Profit Maximiser post about how they saved their earnings so they could start their own business. These are the ones who were thinking long term – which I kind of wish I did when I first started out!

As said above, I use my earnings to invest in Bitcoin. I’ve read and watched a lot of stuff over the past year about how money makes money, so I’m more conservative about how I spend my earnings and instead think of what I could do with it in the future once I’ve compounded it.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1502541499425{border: 5px outset #cecece !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}”]Fast track your learning of Matched Betting and get reaching your own financial freedom by signing up to our free 7-part Email course: ‘Matched Betting: 7 Steps to Reaching Your Financial Freedom’!

5. Pay for Their Wedding

I’m not married, but we all know that weddings cost a sh*tload. The ball park figure is about £10-20k… I guess? With weddings often taking between 1-2 years to plan that’s plenty of time to make most, if not all that money.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1753″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_single_image image=”1752″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_single_image image=”1751″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]That’s 5 things that regular people do with their extra yearly income. I wanted to include a mix of the simple and the more extravagant because to some people an extra income wouldn’t be spent on luxuries.

To some people the extra income is a way of keeping debt-free and cutting out the stresses in life that come with regular bills.

This is proof that you can change all that if you choose to.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1697″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]That’s all for Step 2, I hope that’s given you plenty of inspiration!
